The Sanskrit word "Vastu" means "dwelling". "Vastu" refers to the space that fills that form or dwelling. The dwelling and the space within the form are intimately connected and affect each other. ("shastra" means both "sacred text" and "science"). Vastu is an integral architectural concept based on the Hindu Veda texts. It is the ancient Hindu system for organizing the spaces in which we live and work for optimum harmony. Since millennia, houses, temples, and even whole cities are built by this concept in India. Its basis are the natural laws of spatial/cosmic energy, and is used to bring the living space in harmony with nature and its inhabitants. The house is like humans´s second body. The living space´s quality influences the physical, mental, emontional and spiritual status of humans. Being in sacred space reminds us of our true nature and brings us back to center, giving us the support we need in this world full of stress and uncertainty. Our environments are extensions of our inner self: they have the potential to nourish our soul's expression. Steps can be taken that enhance our connection with inner peace and joy. An authentic Vastu consultant can serve as your guide. Vastu aligns placement with what is most in tune with the five elements and energies of nine directions (North, South, East, West, NW, NE, SW, SE, and the Center). Joining your intention with the natural effects of earth energies and cosmic forces, such as the sun and the flow of energy throughout your home, produces the most beneficial results. As evident, the moon's influence is powerful enough to create tides in the ocean, imagine the effect of your home's being in harmony with the universal principles of nature instead of out of the ideal alignment. Vastu Purusha Mandala is the main blueprint for Vastu homes. It is a square with a minimum of nine sections representing the nine directions of north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest, and the center. The centre is formed by a square made of four squares, which corresponds to the Brahmasthana, the place of Brahma. At this location the divine energy is so strong that it is not suitable for people to live there. Each direction has its particular properties which, when properly honored, facilitate transforming any space into one that feels and looks better, that is more supportive of fulfilling our desires for peace, prosperity, health, and happiness. The Vastu Purusha Mandala represents the harmonious union of divine elements. This creates a lively, balanced wholeness. Honoring the environment and nature is always a sacred acknowledgement. The five elements in the Vedic system are earth, air, fire, water, and space. Each of these is energetically associated with a particular direction. Earth (bhumi) with the southwest; air (vayu) with the northwest; fire (agni) with the southeast; and water (jala) with the northeast. Space (akaasha) is the center of the architectural form and in the center of each room. There are ideal placement of rooms and their functions, furniture, and other personal items in order to have the most positive effect, which result into such things as how well you sleep and how abundant your cash flow is.
Sometimes, it so happens that the we, humans, does acts, out of ignorance, which harm us and their remedy seems impossible. Here, I am giving few tips as solutions to such problems where houses are constructed against the rules of Vastu -Shastra. There are certain rules which can not be followed strictly. In such cases it might create problems. For such situations we can implement some work arounds/solutions.
