      Issues:
      1. Gajendra have good contacts with students in Suroth. He wants some scholarships for poor students in Suroth. This year, Suroth school was topped by a Harijan student, but he stays home because of family and money issues. A few more examples exist.Lets get some names from him. Kyari can support them.
      2. Most of the students don't know about exams like NTSE, NSE , etc. "Kyari" knowledge-base can help. Students lack english comprehension which reduces their confidence for no valid reason. Some english medium books, magazines, dailies, etc. should be made available. Public library should help. Need to monitor their progress via some tests.

  3. observations by Himanshu/Kalpana Sharma ( Dec 1, 2005 ):
As we are evolving with the framework and work-flow of Kyari, it was interesting to see the reality first hand and hear from the people that they are happy to see old-boys of Hindaun-Karauli area making an effort to participate in the development of the region, through Kyari. Persistence is the key.
    The main observations are:
    1. Hindaun:
      1. Meeting with Mr Devendra and Mr Niranjan Sharma:To discuss Kyari objectives and know their thoughts. We agreed to work on the following:
      2. Career guidance: Kyari members will create a knowledge base on various career avenues like higher studies abroad, careers other than engineer-doctor (like pilot, NDA, scientists, fashion designing, architect, etc.). We will put the knowledge-base on the web-site and make it accessible to contact persons in schools.
      3. Plantation: Mr Devendra and Niranjan sharma will talk to residents in colonies to plant trees and generate awareness for cleanliness. They have already planted 10 trees in High school and will work in residential colonies. Outside Kyari members should also create awareness about plantation and make it happen.
    2. Abhay Vidya Mandir:I (Himanshu) studied in this school in 6-7 grades.
      1. Visiting classrooms: Mr GopalDas ji (Principal) and other teachers ( Mr Balgovind ji, etc.) were very cooperative in this exercise. We (Himanshu and Kalpana) went into class-rooms of 10-11-12 grades and introduced Kyari. The students came up with interesting and curious questions about their careers like “how to become a pilot or aeronautical engineer”, “What is NDA and how to become one, coaching institutes, etc...”, “What career options are there if one can’t succeed in engineering or medical competitive exams”, “How to become a fashion designer”, etc. Students were encouraged to participate in improving environment near their house and school, plant trees and run cleanliness drives.
      2. Introduing Kyari to students/teachers: Kyari was introduced as a force to help students and guide them and provide facilities available in other cities so that more students can succeed in competitive exams and make intelligent career choices. Students were encouraged to channelize their queries and Kyari would try to provide an answer. Students were encouraged to keep connected to their roots and schools in future, even after they move out of Hindaun to pursue their careers. Kyari member can help setting up a career counselling center and provide materials to it. Kyari members can visit their alma-mater and hold counseling sessions to inspire and guide students.
      3. Gifting curriculum and competetive exam books: Himanshu had already consulted AVM teachers about books which can help students and teachers in curriculum and competitive exams. Kyari gifted around 20 books (worth Rs 7500) to the AVM library.
    3. Surauth:
      1. Meeting with the following:
        1. Mr Dwarika Prasad Jangid (07469-250688).
        2. Mr Phool Singh.
        3. Mr Rajkamal Agrawal (07469-250296, 9414485763).
        4. Mr Ram babu.
        5. Mr Ratan lal Koli (07469-250299).
        6. Mr Trilok Chand Singhal (07469 – 250357).
        7. Mr Yogesh Sharma (studying PhD in JNU Delhi, 011-26717652).
        8. Mr Prithvilal Verma.
Introduing Kyari: The main agenda of the meeting to explain that Kyari wants their help in children education and plantation work. We requested to spread the word and get their input about what is important for students and environment of Surauth in their view. Mr Koli and Mr Dwarika Prasad have previous experience of mobilizing school students in plantation drives. Mr Prithvilal ji is a retired teacher and has a very good reputation in the area of motivating students and, till recently, he was successfully running a nursery..
        Points:
      1. Help poor and deserving students in books, fees, etc.
      2. Feasibility of setting up a public place (a library) for students to get together and study, discuss and know about their future career paths. Library logistics needs to be worked out (a place and 3-4 people to manage it). Library will be supplied material (curriculum-extra-curriculum books, educational magazines, stationary etc.). This place can also be used to hold extra classes by senior students or outside visitors to teach/guide students.
      3. Run plantation drives. Find out areas (roads, streets, schools, temples, etc.) where it can be done and resources required (time, money, material, etc.). 2006 monsoon season is the best to run this drive on full force.
    4. Jaipur: We (Himanshu & Kalpana) made a point to talk to youngsters who have just graduated or will graduate soon. There is scope where Knowledge base of Kyari members can make youngster more informed about career choices and inspire them to exceed. English comprehension was also an area where they needed guidance.
